Perfect for a whole-body massage as it gives your skin the added nourishment it requires. How we make it: This glow imparting, non-sticky and ultra-moisturizing body oil is a blend of three cold-pressed vegetable oils, aromatic essential oils and treasured skin-nurturing ayurvedic herbs. We cook ayurvedic herbs, Bala, Methi, Ashwagandha and Shatavari in cold-pressed sesame oil.
Simultaneously, we blend cold-pressed oils of wheat germ and essential oils of Frankincense and sandalwood with cold-pressed sweet almond oil. Then we mix these two mixtures to prepare this ultra-nourishing body oil.
Why cold-pressed oils are better than mineral oil for your skin and for the planet?
Extracting oil through the traditional cold-pressing method involves crushing the seed or nut and forcing out the oil against using heat to extract the oil that can degrade the oil’s nutritional quality. Using the cold pressing method produces higher quality oil and the skin absorbs it better.
Several body massage oils use mineral oils – a by-product of the distillation of petroleum to produce gasoline. These form a film on the skin thus helping seal in the moisture but what they deliver is merely an illusion of moisturized, hydrated skin, dermatologists say. While the surface of the skin feels softer, as a result, you’re actually drying out your pores keeping the air and moisture out.
Mineral oils are ‘dead’ inert products with no nutritional value to your skin and several dermatologists claim that they may not be suitable for sensitive skin.
Also, mineral oils are not Eco-friendly as they come from an unsustainable source – As a by-product of the petrochemical industry and are non-renewable resources that contribute to our dependence on fossil fuels.
